Lorraine Radabaugh Memorial Scholarship for Continuing Education

About:

The Moorpark Women’s Club Lorraine Radabaugh Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Lorraine Radabaugh and reflects her commitment to assist women who had not been able to complete their education, or were starting anew. Through charitable and educational initiatives, the MWC aims to support women who are committed to making a positive impact in their communities. This scholarship is a way to empower women, foster their growth and ability to contribute to society.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Major: Any major  

  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 

  • Student Status: Must be continuing at Moorpark College in the upcoming academic year   

  • Enrollment: Either full-time or part-time  

  • Credits: No minimum required 

  • Student must self-identify as women

  • Student must be re-entering studies or returning to education

  • Student must be a resident of Ventura County

Award: $1000 - up to 5 scholarships may be awarded

Application Period: December 1st - January 31st

High School Senior

Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarship Description:

  • Applicant must be a graduating Senior who attends one of the two Moorpark Unified School District High Schools and has a minimum GPA of 2.5.

  • Applicant plans on furthering their studies at a 2 or 4 year College/ University or Trade School.

  • Because MWFC is founded on Education and Community Service, the applicant must write an essay on “How my community service activities have benefitted others.”

Application Period:

  • The Universal Application Workshop is given to students in
    February at their High School.  The application is then posted to Naviance for student access.

  • The Universal Scholarship application and all supplemental materials must be submitted the first week in April.

How to Apply:

  • Applicants can find the MWFC Scholarship in the Universal Scholarship Application for their High School.

  • Any questions can be directed to the High School College and Career Guidance Counselor.

VCCF - Second Century Legacy Fund Scholarship

About:

Established in 2005 in honor of the Moorpark Women’s Fortnightly Club’s 100th anniversary, the Second Century Legacy Fund provides an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from a Moorpark high school.

The scholarship is an endowment fund managed by the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF), which administers numerous scholarships supporting local students pursuing college, university, graduate, trade, and certificate programs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a graduating senior from a high school in the Moorpark area.

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university

  • Demonstrate involvement in community service, leadership, and school activities such as athletics, music, or other programs.

  • Submit the required application materials, including a transcript, recommendations, and personal essay.

Award: $1000 scholarship

Application Period:

Applications are submitted during the annual VCCF scholarship application period. Specific application dates are announced by the Ventura County Community Foundation each year.

How to Apply:

Students complete the VCCF scholarship application and provide:

  • A completed application detailing community service, leadership, and school involvement

  • A sealed high school transcript

  • Two letters of recommendation

  • A personal essay describing themselves, their goals, and what they look forward to accomplishing in the future
